We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Controller to join our growing team in Mumbai, India. In this role, you will play a key role in overseeing the property accounting function for Co's US portfolio, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP standards. You will work collaboratively with the US accounting team and other departments to ensure smooth operations and efficient process implementation.
Job Description (Primary Responsibilities)
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the property accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month-end closing processes.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for Co's US property portfolio in accordance with US GAAP.
• Oversee the implementation and adherence to internal controls and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for property accounting.
• Analyze financial data, identify trends, and prepare reports to support informed decision-making.
• Partner with the US accounting team to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the property accounting function.
• Lead and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a strong and collaborative team environment.

Required Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in US GAAP accounting, preferably within a US company.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with general ledger accounting for a US company.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring accounting staff.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with development/construction accounting or real estate is a requirement.
• Experience transitioning accounting work from the US to an offshore team a plus.
• Experience with JDE or Yardi accounting software a plus.
• CPA or Chartered Accountant equivalent certification a plus.
