1) Procurement Planning:
a) Developing procurement plans based on project requirements and budgetary constraints.
b) Identifying potential suppliers and subcontractors for various materials and services.
2) Supplier Evaluation and Selection:
a) Assessing suppliers based on factors such as quality, cost, delivery reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
b) Conducting supplier audits and evaluations to ensure adherence to contractual agreements.
3) Contract Negotiation:
a) Negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms. b) Drafting and reviewing contract documents to mitigate risks and protect the interests of the shipyard.
4) Inventory Management:
a) Managing inventory levels to ensure adequate stock of materials and spare parts while minimizing excess inventory and associated costs.
b) Implementing inventory control measures to track stock movements, monitor stock levels, and prevent stockouts.
5) Logistics and Transportation:
a) Coordinating transportation and logistics activities to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to the shipyard.
b) Optimizing transportation routes and modes to minimize lead times and transportation costs.
6) Supplier Relationship Management: a)Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to foster collaboration and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise.
b) Conducting regular supplier performance reviews and addressing any performance gaps or areas for improvement.
7) Risk Management:
a) Identifying potential risks in the supply chain and developing strategies to mitigate these risks, such as supplier diversification or contingency planning.
b) Monitoring geopolitical, economic, and regulatory factors that may impact the supply chain and taking proactive measures to address potential disruptions. 8) Cost Optimization:
a) Implementing cost-saving initiatives and value engineering strategies to optimize procurement costs without compromising quality or performance.
b) Negotiating bulk purchase discounts, volume rebates, and favorable payment terms to achieve cost savings.
9) Continuous Improvement:
a) Identifying opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies within the procurement and supply chain function.
b) Implementing best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
10) Compliance and Ethics:
a) Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing procurement and supply chain activities.
b) Upholding ethical standards and promoting transparency, fairness, and integrity in all procurement dealings. These responsibilities are crucial for ensuring efficient and effective procurement and supply chain management within the shipyard, ultimately contributing to the success of its operations and projects.
