Job Description:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and intellectual property agreements, including artist, licensing, publishing, distribution, and vendor contracts.
  • Support deal structuring and execution for various music business transactions, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and legal risk management.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on contractual rights, obligations, risk exposure, and key commercial considerations, providing practical and business-oriented legal guidance.
  • Assist with rights management, including tracking ownership, licenses, assignments, and renewals across music and related IP assets.
  • Maintain accurate contractual documentation, transaction records, and rights databases to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams such as A&R, marketing, digital, finance, and business development to support releases, campaigns, and strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor compliance with contractual terms and support resolution of contractual queries or disputes as they arise.

Skills:

  • Bachelor of Laws (B.L./LL.B) or Master of Laws (LL.M) from a recognized university.
  • 3–8 years of relevant transactional legal experience, preferably within media, entertainment, music, or intellectual property sectors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial and IP agreements.
  • Strong understanding of copyright, licensing, and rights management in the context of music and digital content.
  • Ability to translate legal concepts into clear, commercially practical advice for non-legal stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, creative environment.
  • High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
