Job Preference:
1. 15–20 years of relevant experience in automotive components or precision
machining manufacturing.
2. At least 5 years of experience in a senior manufacturing or plant management role,
preferably as Plant Head, GM – Operations, or equivalent.
3. Strong hands-on experience in CNC machining, production management, quality
systems, maintenance coordination, and cost optimisation.
4. Experience handling automotive OEMs and Tier-1/Tier-2 customers will be an Advantage
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Manufacturing
Engineering.

KEY PURPOSE FOR THE JOB:
To lead and manage the overall operations of the machining plant, ensuring achievement of
production targets, customer delivery commitments, quality standards, productivity, cost
efficiency, profitability, and statutory compliance.
The Plant Head will be responsible for driving operational excellence, optimising
manufacturing resources, developing the plant leadership team, and ensuring sustainable
business performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plant Operations & Production
1. Lead day-to-day plant operations and ensure achievement of production targets.
2. Manage CNC turning, VMC, HMC, machining centres, grinding, drilling, tapping, and
other relevant machining processes.
3. Improve machine utilisation, OEE, cycle time, changeover time, and manpower
productivity.
4. Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve production
efficiency.
5. Ensure optimum utilisation of machinery, manpower, tools, fixtures, and other
resources.
Production Planning & Control
- Review production plans, customer schedules, machine loading, and capacity
utilisation.
2. Ensure timely availability of raw materials, cutting tools, consumables, and
production inputs.
3. Monitor production achievement, work-in-progress, inventory, and dispatch
schedules.
4. Coordinate with PPC, Purchase, Stores, Sales, and Logistics to ensure on-time
customer delivery.
Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with customer quality requirements and applicable quality
management systems, including IATF 16949 wherever applicable.
2 Reduce internal rejection, customer complaints, rework, scrap, and process variation.
3 Drive root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
4 Ensure effective implementation of process controls, inspection systems, traceability,
and quality audits.
5 Coordinate with Quality teams to improve customer satisfaction and product
reliability.
Cost Control & Productivity Improvement
? Monitor manufacturing conversion costs, tooling costs, consumables, energy, and
manpower expenses.
? Drive cost-reduction initiatives and improve overall plant profitability.
? Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, SMED, and other continuous
improvement practices.
? Optimise cutting-tool life, coolant consumption, machine cycle time, and material
utilisation.
? Prepare and monitor annual operating budgets and capital expenditure proposals.
Maintenance & Engineering
? Ensure maximum machine availability through preventive and predictive
maintenance.
? Monitor machine breakdowns, downtime, MTBF, and MTTR.
? Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering teams to improve equipment
reliability.
? Plan machinery upgrades, automation, process improvements, and capacity
expansion.
People Management
? Lead and develop the Production, PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, Stores, and
other plant teams.
? Establish departmental KPIs and review performance against targets.
? Ensure optimum manpower utilisation, shift planning, workforce discipline, and
training.
? Work with HR to maintain employee engagement, effective industrial relations, and
workforce stability.
? Build a performance-driven culture with clear accountability at all levels.
Safety & Statutory Compliance
? Ensure compliance with applicable factory, labour, safety, environmental, and
statutory requirements.
? Promote workplace safety, machine guarding, PPE compliance, housekeeping, and
accident prevention.
? Ensure closure of safety observations and corrective actions.
? Maintain readiness for statutory inspections, customer audits, and management
system audits.
Business Performance & Reporting
? Review plant performance through daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports.
? Present operational performance, cost savings, quality performance, delivery status,
and improvement plans to senior management.
? Develop annual plant objectives and action plans aligned with company business
goals.
? Coordinate with Finance, Sales, Purchase, HR, and other functions to achieve overall
business targets.
