- Conduct heating and cooling load calculations to determine the appropriate HVAC system size and capacity for new construction and renovation projects.
- Design HVAC systems, including ductwork layout, equipment selection, and specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Utilize CAD software (such as AutoCAD or Revit) to create detailed HVAC system drawings and schematics for construction documents.
- Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate HVAC systems seamlessly into building designs and layouts.
- Perform energy modeling and analysis to optimize HVAC system performance and efficiency while minimizing energy consumption and operating costs.
- Select and specify HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handling units, pumps, and controls, based on project requirements and performance criteria.
- Review and evaluate contractor submittals and shop drawings to ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, including responding to RFIs (Requests for Information) and conducting site visits as needed.
- Conduct field surveys and assessments to gather data and information necessary for HVAC system design and implementation.
- Stay current with advancements in HVAC technology, trends, and best practices to continuously improve design processes and deliver innovative solutions.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and schedules related to HVAC design and engineering services.
- Communicate effectively with project team members, clients, and contractors to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.
Skills:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience (3 years) in HVAC system design and engineering, preferably in residential, commercial, or industrial projects.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) for creating HVAC system drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with HVAC design tools is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and work well within a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Understanding of building codes, regulations, and green building standards related to HVAC systems.
