Job Summary :
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Utility Design Engineer to join our engineering design team. The ideal candidate shall be responsible for the planning, design, and coordination of internal and external utility infrastructure as well as systems for industrial, commercial and institutional projects. The role involves designing water supply, sewerage, stormwater drainage, utility corridors, and process utilities such as compressed air, chilled water, cooling water, steam and thermic fluid systems, while ensuring adherence and strict compliance to applicable codes and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
Utility System Design
• Design external utility networks including water supply, sewerage, stormwater drainage, recycled water, and utility corridors.
• Design internal industrial utility systems including:
o Compressed Air Systems
o Chilled Water Systems
o Cooling Water Systems
o Steam Systems
o Thermic Fluid Systems
o Process Piping Network
• Prepare utility schematics, P&IDs (where applicable), layouts, sections, profiles, routing plans, and detailed engineering drawings including isometric drawings wherever applicable.
• Perform hydraulic and thermal calculations for water, drainage, and process utility systems.
• Design pumping systems, compressors, chillers interfaces, cooling towers, boilers, heat exchangers, storage tanks, manholes, and related utility infrastructure.
• Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, and material schedules.
Engineering & Technical Analysis :
• Conduct utility demand calculations and capacity assessments for both civil and industrial utilities.
• Coordinate utility connections with local authorities, service providers, and plant engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with relevant IS codes, NBC, ASME standards (where applicable), and local authority regulations.
• Review design calculations and optimize utility systems for efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Project Coordination :
• Coordinate with Architecture, Civil, Structural, HVAC, Electrical, and Process Engineering teams.
• Participate in client meetings and provide technical design clarifications.
• Review consultant, contractor, and vendor submissions.
• Resolve design conflicts through multidisciplinary coordination.
Documentation & Quality :
• Prepare design reports, calculation sheets, and technical documentation.
• Maintain project documentation and revision records.
• Ensure quality and timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
• Support construction teams during execution, installation, and commissioning.
Skills:
Qualification :• B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Diploma candidates with relevant experience may also be considered.
• Candidates with experience in industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, commercial buildings, institutional campuses, township developments, or infrastructure utility projects will be preferred.
